A Tighter Focus for Chu★Blog

Many of you that follow me on Twitter know that I have had the occasional struggle with deciding what the true focus of Chu★Blog is. I’ve always believed that it was whatever I wanted it to be, and while it was fun while it lasted, in made the blog feel rather scattered to me. There were so many things going on here at once that I found myself unable to keep up with it all.

Then, NYAF and NYCC happened. Being at the convention, in the midst of all these industry people and meeting, talking, networking, asking questions, and simply basking in everything around me was intoxicating and captivating. I can’t remember the last time I did something that left me so full of joy and so satisfied. I was truly and unequivocally happy working my ass off this weekend.

When I woke up yesterday morning, I reached a decision. From now on, you will see Chu★Blog focused more towards its original purpose: entertaining reviews, editorials, and podcasts on anime, manga, gaming, science fiction, and fantasy. To facilitate this, I did a little bit of clean-up this morning:

  • The L.J. Smith book reviews were taken down, and no more book reviews will be posted unless they have to do with the subject matter listed above. The links to these defunct reviews will be taken off of the YouTube account soon.
  • The review of “The Path” has been cancelled and taken down. This turned out to be more of a walkthrough than a review, which was not my intention, and with the plethora of things I have in store for this blog, there was simply no time to continue this.

I will be making lots of changes around the blog, many of which I am more than happy to share with you:

  • There will be a much larger focus on reviews. I have a review of an exciting product coming up, as well as an anime review for Halloween. There are other planned reviews, but they will remain a secret until the time comes.
  • I will be changing all of the astricks to stars for Chu★Blog, since it looks cooler and is more uniform (it look unprofessional when I interchange both of them).
  • The Chu★Blog Store will be getting a re-vamp sometime soon, although I’m not quite sure how I am going to go about this yet.
  • I am looking into a few other ways for Chu★Blog to generate some money besides the store so that I can use it to get my hands on more material to review (any suggestions on this are always welcome).

I have a few other things in the works for the blog as well, but I can’t / don’t want to discuss them until I am sure they will be happening. All I can say is that you should stay tuned for some exciting new stuff!

I also want to take this opportunity to thank all of my readers. You guys are what make this blog possible, and things wouldn’t be as good as they are around here without your love, support, and ideas. You guys rock!

Announcing: Chu*Cast!

I am happy to announce that Chu*Blog is now launching its own podcast!

Chu*Cast will be hosted by me, and feature many people from all walks of life to discuss topics on anime, manga, video games, writing, and perhaps even some life wisdom!

The first episode will center around the MMORPG genre, and will feature my brother Anthony Giannetti, a.k.a. @OpalPhoenix of the video game and anime blog The Opal Phoenix Nest, as well as his friend (and mine!) Stephen Clancy, an avid MMORPG player who will be able to give some great insight!

Stay tuned for the first episode of Chu*Cast, and feel free to drop a line with comments and/or suggestions for topics you’d like to hear on Chu*Cast!

Chu*Bash [JRPG WEEK]

Yes, another blog series is coming to Chu*Blog!

As you could probably tell by reading Chu*Blog, I love the JRPG genre. I have been playing these games for over thirteen years now, and they never fail to excite and engage me. So, to celebrate this incredible genre, I am happy to announce an upcoming week-long series titled Chu*Bash [JRPG WEEK]! Chu*Bash will be the collective name for all of the celebratory blog series’ you will see here on Chu*Blog, and I am happy to say that [JRPG WEEK] will be the first one!

On each day of [JRPG WEEK] I will be uploading a review on one of my top seven JRPGs of all time! You can tune in the entire week and watch the countdown, which will range from newer games to some old, familiar classics.

Before [JRPG WEEK] starts, there are a few things I want you, my lovely readers, to keep something in mind:

I can only review what I have played, so don’t get upset if your favorite title isn’t on this list! Also, several of the titles that will be featured are ones that I have not played all the way through. This is simply because I have very little time, however I am confident that I am knowledgeable enough about each of these games to be able to review them. I would never review something on my blog if I were not totally confident that I could do so in a fair and qualified manner.

I am happy to announce that [JRPG WEEK] WILL BE NEXT WEEK, STARTING MONDAY, MAY 31ST!

On Monday, my #7 entry of the ‘My Top JRPGs’ list will be posted, with another review posted each day until we get to Sunday, where my top JRPG of all time will be revealed! You are encouraged to comment on these reviews and share your own favorite JRPGs with me!

Changes to Chu*Blog

As you may have noticed, some changes have come to Chu*Blog today. I thought it would be a good idea to make a post outlining these changes.

First of all, I have created a new blog called GinaMarie Writes where I will keep all of my blogs on my writing, on literature, and on writing in general. I would love to see some of you guys come on over and check out this blog in addition to Chu*Blog =D

Although I have made this change, my L.J. Smith reviews will continue to be posted on Chu*Blog because this is where my L.J. Smith fans know where to go to get those reviews, so they will be staying.

Secondly, I have deleted several blogs that never really got any views and had nothing to do with the overall theme of Chu*Blog. Those posts were:

  • The NaNoWriMo update posts
  • The ‘T-Virus’ 2-part Twilight bashing series
  • The first two posts I made about my Christmas gifts and about the state of the economy
  • My movie reviews
  • My Twilight/Vampire Diaries ‘why you shouldn’t compare’ blog

However, I also moved some of my posts to GinaMarie Writes. Those are:

  • My blog on book publishing versus online publishing
  • My Anne Rice editorial

So, there it is. Why have I done this? Well, to be honest I think Chu*Blog had a little too many things going on all at once. Also, I really, really want to start spending all of my time and energy on my writing, which means that you’ll be seeing a lot less frequent posts here on Chu*Blog. I’m sorry about that, but I really need to start getting my goals in order. I hope you all will understand.

I WILL be continuing to write manga reviews for JanaiBlog, so if you enjoyed my first one you can rest easy at that. I will still be blogging here whenever I can, however I have gotten some feedback that the things I talk about are overdone and that my posts are too long, so I am going to try and work on that as well. It should allow me more time to blog and also make the overall quality of Chu*Blog better.

So, that’s it. Make sure to check out the past couple of new blogs if you haven’t already, they’ve been my most popular yet so I think you’ll enjoy them!
